2010 Fantasy Football Sleepers

Every single season there are numerous gems available in the mid-late rounds that can help carry a team to a fantasy championship. Finding these under-valued players is vital to dominating the fantasy competition.

Here’s some of those potential studs that I’ll be targeting. Will all of them hit? Probably not. But if one or two of them do, the benefits could be through the roof.

Terrell Owens, WR, Bengals -  Only a couple of years ago, labeling Owens a “sleeper” would be absurd. After a sub-mediocre season in Buffalo though, he has become under-valued…at least for now. He’s being drafted about 3 rounds later than Ocho Cinco, and it would not be a shock if he puts up similar numbers. He’s still a red-zone threat and can still separate from defenders.

Darren McFadden, RB, Raiders- I’m probably just a sucker for eye-popping college talent, but I’d roll the dice with D-Mac, if the price was right, over Michael Bush. He was the consensus #1 rookie pick in 2008, but has nearly disappeared in the football black hole of Oakland. Maybe I’m way off base, but I still think he’s the most talented offensive player on the Raiders’ offense (although he hasn’t really shown it, I admit).  He can, and should, be an explosive playmaker. You can’t find too many players with his upside in the 10th round or later. The classic Lottery Ticket type of pick.

Kareem Huggins, RB, Tampa Bay – I try to generally ignore the annual preseason hype that we all encounter every season regarding previously unknown talents. The majority of the time they go back to anonymity once the real season begins. However, the chatter surrounding little Kareem has become a little too loud to ignore. He doesn’t exactly have the best pedigree (small school, unimpressive college competition, undrafted in 2009), but the Tampa coaching staff is evidently very impressed with him. He has not disappointed in training camp and in preseason duty. Derrick Ward has looked terrible, and by all accounts has now been leap-frogged by Huggins as the Bucs #2 RB. If you do the math, that means Huggins could be a Caddy Williams injury away from the starter’s gig.  Not a bad gamble for the last pick in your fantasy draft.
